Some of today’s most creative, tenacious and pioneering business people were honoured at the awards ceremony, identifying and celebrating those people and organisations who exemplify the way innovation really works. HILS were recognised for persisting and recreating in the face of near-disaster.

“Every innovation we create makes people’s lives better” said HILS’ Chief Executive, Sarah Wren, “I hope this award will inspire other small businesses to innovate as we have.”

Not only designed to showcase the authentic, haphazard and altogether more exciting business of real innovation, the winners were chosen from shortlists of up to five entries for each award category, from a total of more than 400 nominations.

Judge Matthew Gwyther, Editor of Management Today. Said “It was heart-warming to see innovations being made by companies all over the world to benefit all of us.”

With sites across Hertfordshire in Letchworth, Hemel, St Albans and Ware, HILS have innovated around their meals service to help provide greater impact – supporting more than 11,000 people stay independent in Hertfordshire last year.

Sarah added: “We have developed new services, such as pop in visits, and have expanded existing services, including offering more community alarms and telecare equipment. But perhaps most importantly, our caring team work incredibly hard 365 days a year to make sure that our clients feel genuinely cared for and part of our Hertfordshire community”.

“What makes these awards so worthwhile is that we took a really honest, realistic look at the world of innovation,” said Judge Matthew Gwyther, Editor of Management Today. He also commented on the diversity of the nominees. “It was heart-warming to see innovations being made by companies all over the world to benefit all of us.”
