Hertfordshire Scouts ‘Seasonal’ Calendar Competition!
Every Christmas, we deliver gifts of calendars to our thousands of meals on wheels clients to help spread some festive cheer and remind them that they are cared for. Last year, we asked amateur photographers to give us their best views of Hertfordshire – for many of our clients who find it hard to get out and about, this helped bring our beautiful countryside to them!
However, this calendar is about more than just pretty pictures, it also serves a practical purpose: the weeks are colour-coded to match our menu, so that clients can easily see which meal they will be having that day.
This year, we are running a competition with Hertfordshire Scouts to design the images for our 2019 Calendars. The theme is ‘Seasons’. Scout groups across the county will be submitting their paintings, drawings, and colouring-in seasonal pictures – hoping to make it onto our calendars!
The winning artworks will be featured in our 2019 Calendar, with a panel of Scout Leaders and HILS staff picking the final entries. The winners’ first name, age, and section will be included in the calendar, and winners will receive a calendar of their very own.
Groups will also have the opportunity to purchase the calendars for their friends and families as a Christmas gift. This will help us fundraise to support our charitable causes and continue to do good in the community.
As HILS has charitable status, any beaver, cub, scout or explorer who gets involved will be working towards their community responsibility (world challenge), artist badges and fundraising badges.
