HILS is an award-winning not-for-profit social enterprise. We trade to deliver social good and support people, reinvesting any surplus into helping our clients and expanding our services.

Our charitable mission is to develop creative ways to help people stay happy, healthy and independent in their homes for as long as possible. We believe that simple actions such as ensuring people are well-nourished and regularly see a friendly face can have a hugely beneficial impact on their health and wellbeing. Our services help to prevent avoidable health conditions whilst also benefiting the public purse.

We receive funding from a variety of sources for our different services, including through public contracts, grants, and direct trading with our clients. We also fundraise exclusively for those services which are provided free, or those which are entirely funded by our clients to enable us to support those who are not able to afford it.

You can support us by:

  • Fundraising on our behalf - let us know if you would like to plan fundraising activities by emailing so we can support and thank you on social media!
  • Donating to us by clicking the ‘Donate Now’ button at the top and bottom of the page. Please do let us know who you are in the personal message section, so we can thank you.
  • Playing the East Herts lottery is a fun and easy way to support good causes like HILS. For every £1 you spend, HILS will receive 50p. For more information and to purchase a ticket, click here.
  • Spreading the word about our services and fundraising activities – follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or join our mailing list here.

Sarah Wren, Chief Exec. of HILS, says: “I want to thank you for donating to Hertfordshire Independent Living Service. Your gift helps us to provide independent living support to some of the most vulnerable people in Hertfordshire. We couldn’t do our vital work without supporters like you.”
